The NHL trade season is now in full swing, and there are a number of trades that may help or hurt the Chicago Blackhawks, New York Islanders, Los Angeles Kings, Washington Capitals, Pittsburgh Penguins, Florida Panthers, Nashville Predators, Nashville Stars, Tampa Bay Lightning and many others.
As usual, we’ll be taking a look at what players are currently available for trade, what teams are looking for and what they can be expected to get in return.
We’ll also take a look into the teams that might be looking to trade, and whether the trade is worth it for the Hawks.
The Blackhawks are one of the top teams in the NHL, but it is clear that the front office and management are looking to improve.
The team is one of only two teams that has a top six forward in Sidney Crosby, while the other is the Tampa Bay Lighting.
The Hawks have two first round picks in 2017, which is a huge asset in the draft and in the future.
The trade that the Blackhawks are most likely looking to acquire is the right-handed defenceman Alexander Wennberg.
The 29-year-old Wennburg has a $4.5 million cap hit for the 2018-19 season and $3.9 million for 2019-20.
He will likely be a free agent after the season and is currently a restricted free agent.
The Penguins are reportedly interested in Wennenberg, and they also have the right to match any offer sheet.
The Kings, Rangers and Panthers are also interested in the defenceman.
Wennburger’s salary is $3 million, so it would be a huge hit for any team if the Hawks are unable to come to an agreement.
He would likely be an upgrade on Kris Versteeg at the right price.
The Lightning and Capitals have a number similar to the Blackhawks, although the Panthers have a much higher number of cap space to work with.
Wannberg is expected to command a fair amount in a trade.
The Islanders have a solid defenceman in Kyle Okposo, who is expected be a long-term deal.
The Islanders are also looking to add a scoring winger in free agency, and Okposi has the potential to be a very good one.
The Lightning have a slew of good forwards on the way and are looking at bringing back a number that will be more valuable to them.
The Capitals are looking like a strong contender, and have a ton of space.
They have the top three defencemen in Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom and Justin Williams.
The Capitals have two right-shooting forwards, and one left-shot forward.
The Panthers have the best defencemen of the three in Brent Burns and Dmitry Orlov.
They are also expected to bring back a veteran centre in Andre Burakovsky, who could provide a nice scoring boost for the Panthers.
The Rangers and Penguins have a lot of firepower on their team, and the Rangers are expected to add two scoring forwards in the trade deadline.
The Panthers could be looking for a winger.
The Flyers are looking good at the moment, but the front offices are looking out for their younger players and adding more young talent.
They also have a large amount of cap room, which they can use to acquire a winger and/or a defenceman for their young players.
The Sharks could be interested in adding a winger, and could also use the money to add some young defencemen.
The Bruins are expected do a lot in free agent deals this summer, but they will need to add players to help them compete.
The Bruins are also known for having a strong goalie in Tuukka Rask.
The forward could be a big help for Boston.
The Rangers and Blackhawks are also on the market, and both have plenty of cap to work in.
The Blackhawks have the highest number of players available on their roster at the present time, and it’s expected that they will be looking at more players in the coming weeks.
The Flyers could be trying to add more players to compete with the Kings and the Islanders.
The Penguins have an interesting situation with a number-one goalie in Cam Ward.
He’s signed through 2021-22, but he is also entering the final year of his contract and has a lot to prove.
He may not have the same level of success in the playoffs that he had in the regular season, and he may be looking elsewhere.
The Canadiens and Oilers are also in the market for a goalie, and may be interested.
The Ducks could be shopping for a goaltender, and a goaltender would give the Ducks another good option to pair with Ryan Getzlaf.
The Leafs are in a similar situation as the Hawks, and are expected by some to make a deal for a top defenceman and a scoring forward in the upcoming offseason.
The Leafs have the third-best defencemen on their squad, with a plethora of young players on the roster.
The club has
